The wait is over! Something big is about to go live. The Lightning Network — known for enabling instant, low-fee Bitcoin payments — is being integrated into Klever Wallet in a fully self-custodial way.
This isn’t just Lightning support — it’s the full experience of Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet, built for those who value speed, privacy, and complete control
No custodians. No shortcuts. Just you, your keys, and your Bitcoin — ready to move instantly.
With this upgrade, Klever Wallet users will be able to send, receive, and swap using Lightning directly from the app. Whether you’re paying for coffee, topping up a balance, or sending tiny amounts of Bitcoin in real time, Lightning Network will be just a few taps away.
And this is just the beginning.
Klever is one of the first multi-chain wallets to offer a fully non-custodial Lightning implementation — complete with swap-in, swap-out, and soon, Lightning Swaps from any supported token.
Everything happens on your terms, with your keys, in your wallet.
The future of Bitcoin payments isn’t just fast. It’s yours.
But before you start scanning invoices or swapping sats, it’s important to understand what’s happening under the hood — and why it matters.
Let’s begin with a quick refresher.
What Is the Lightning Network — and Why It Matters
The Lightning Network is a second-layer protocol built on top of Bitcoin, designed for fast, low-fee transactions. It allows users to open off-chain payment channels where they can send and receive Bitcoin instantly — without clogging the main blockchain.
If the Bitcoin mainnet is like a highway with toll booths, Lightning is your express lane: no traffic jams, minimal fees, and no need to stop at every block.
Why does this matter?
Because it turns Bitcoin from a slow settlement layer into a real-time payment system — ready for coffee shops, tipping, content streaming, and cross-border payments.
Klever Wallet brings this experience to your phone — fully non-custodial, fast, and easy to use.
Now that you’ve got the basics down, it’s time to see it in action.
This is where Lightning becomes real.
Getting Started: Enabling Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet
The first step to using the Lightning Network is activating your Lightning-ready balance inside Klever Wallet. This experience is smooth whether you’re a first-time user or already using the wallet.
Two Ways to Get Started
New Users:
If you just installed Klever Wallet and created a new wallet, Bitcoin Lightning will already appear in your portfolio by default — no extra setup needed.
It will automatically begin syncing with the Lightning node so you can start using it right away.
Existing Users:
If you’ve used Klever Wallet before, you’ll need to enable Bitcoin Lightning manually:
- Go to your Token Filter.
- Find Bitcoin Lightning in the list.
- Toggle it on.
- Wait a few moments while it syncs.
Note About Lightning Accounts
Unlike Bitcoin Mainnet and other tokens in Klever Wallet, Bitcoin Lightning supports only one account per wallet. This design choice simplifies the Lightning experience, streamlining the interface and reducing complexity when managing payments.
What Is Syncing?
You may see a “Syncing” label during this step — this simply means the wallet is retrieving the current status of your Nodeless Liquid Wallet (powered by Breez SDK), since it operates on a sidechain, and is updating balances and transaction history.
Usually, using the Lightning Network requires users to run their own node — a technical and resource-heavy task that keeps many people out.
But with Klever Wallet, that complexity disappears.
Thanks to the deep integration with the Nodeless Liquid implementation of the Breez SDK, node operations are fully abstracted in the background through submarine swaps.
You don’t need to manage infrastructure, channels, or liquidity. Just open your wallet, and you’re connected — with full self-custody of your Bitcoin.
Once syncing completes, your Lightning address is ready to use.
And remember:
Klever Wallet is fully non-custodial. Your keys never leave your device. The SDK handles routing and infrastructure — you hold the coins.
Available Actions (and What’s Coming Next)
In this initial phase, Klever Wallet provides two core Lightning Network features:
- Receive BTC – request Bitcoin through a Lightning invoice, a Liquid address, or a BTC Mainnet swap-in.
- Scan & Send BTC – instantly pay Lightning invoices, Liquid requests, or initiate a swap-out by scanning a QR code or entering an address. The wallet recognizes the request type and handles it for you.
Coming soon
The Swap feature will allow you to convert any supported token directly into Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet — simplifying top-ups and unlocking even more flexibility.
And while Lightning makes Bitcoin more fluid and flexible than ever, even the fastest networks can run into hiccups. That’s why Klever Wallet includes built-in protections to keep your funds safe — even when something doesn’t go as planned.
Refundables: What Happens if Something Fails?
If there’s any issue on your submarine swaps behind the scenes — like sending the wrong amount — Klever Wallet automatically flags the transaction under Refundables. You’ll be able to recover your funds by entering a valid Bitcoin address for the refund.
This safety layer ensures you never lose money due to errors or mismatches during swaps.
Swaps give you the power to move between layers. But Lightning really shines when you put it into action — at checkout counters, inside games, across borders, or between friends.
So how does this all play out in the real world? Let’s walk through what it looks like to actually use Bitcoin Lightning for everyday payments, right from Klever Wallet.
Real Use Cases — Lightning Payments in Action with Klever Wallet
With Lightning fully integrated into Klever Wallet, Bitcoin becomes practical — not just a valuable asset, but a fast and usable currency.
Here are just a few real-world ways users can take advantage of Lightning through Klever Wallet:
Buy Coffee or Groceries
You’re at a local shop that accepts Bitcoin via Lightning. Open Klever Wallet, scan their Lightning invoice, confirm the payment — and it’s done in seconds. No delays, no high fees.
Pay a Friend Instantly
Someone sends you a Lightning invoice via text or QR code. Just scan it with Klever Wallet, and the satoshis are on their way — with near-zero fees.
Receive Micro-Rewards in Games
Using integrations like MoonLabs, gamers can receive Bitcoin Lightning rewards in real time. With Klever Wallet, those earnings land directly in your self-custodial wallet.
Swap and Spend Globally
On a trip abroad? Swap Bitcoin Mainnet to Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet, and pay for services wherever Bitcoin Lightning is accepted — whether it’s in El Salvador, Switzerland, or select cities in Brazil like Rolante.
Make Lightning Network and Bitcoin Payments Accessible for Everyone
Want to receive payments from someone without Lightning Network? Just generate a BTC Mainnet address via Receive > BTC Mainnet. Klever Wallet will handle the conversion behind the scenes and credit your Lightning Network balance.
By now, you’ve seen how Lightning can transform everyday payments — fast, efficient, and global.
But before you start scanning invoices and zapping satoshis everywhere, there are a few things worth knowing. From transaction limits to what happens if something goes wrong, the best crypto wallet keeps it simple — but Klever users stay informed.
What to Know Before You Start using Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet
Even with all its speed and simplicity, Lightning has some specific characteristics.
Here’s what to understand before diving in with Klever Wallet:
Lightning and Bitcoin Mainnet Are Not the Same
While both operate using Bitcoin, they represent separate layers. Lightning payments cannot be sent to regular BTC addresses, and vice versa. Always check the invoice or address type before confirming a transaction.
Minimum Amounts for Swap-in
Swapping Bitcoin between Mainnet and Lightning involves operational costs. That’s why minimum amounts apply — for example, swap-ins may require at least 25,000 sats to proceed. Limits are shown in-app before you initiate the operation.
Swaps-in/out Take Time
Unlike Lightning payments, swap-in or swap-out operations are not instant. Since they require confirmation on the Bitcoin blockchain and coordination with the infrastructure partner, it’s normal for a swap-in or swap-out to take up to an hour, especially during times of high network traffic.
Refundables in Case of Error
If something goes wrong on the Liquid submarine swaps abstract layer — such as sending the wrong amount — Klever Wallet will not leave you stranded. Transactions that don’t match the expected value are listed under the Refundables tab, allowing you to manually recover your funds by entering a valid Bitcoin Mainnet address.
Your Keys, Your Coins – ALWAYS
Klever Wallet integrates with Breez SDK to enable Lightning functionality, but your private key remain entirely with you. The Lightning Network experience is fully non-custodial. You’re always in control.
One Small Send for You, One Giant Leap for Bitcoin
You’ve made it through the setup, the scans, and even your first payment. But Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet doesn’t stop there. What you’ve experienced is just the foundation — what’s coming next will expand what’s possible with Bitcoin across chains, assets, and even real-world usage.
What’s Next for Bitcoin Lightning in Klever Wallet
The current Lightning implementation in Klever Wallet already empowers users to send, receive, and swap Bitcoin in a fully non-custodial environment — a significant milestone in wallet innovation. But the roadmap doesn’t stop there.
Lightning General Swaps Are Coming
Soon, users will be able to swap any supported token by Klever Wallet directly into Bitcoin Lightning and vice versa. That means converting assets like KLV, ETH, or USDT into spendable Lightning BTC — all within the same wallet interface. No centralized exchange, no bridge, no custody.
Imagine paying a Lightning invoice with any token in just a few taps. That’s the level of interoperability Klever is building.
The Vision Ahead
This launch sets a new standard for Layer 2 usability in self-custodial wallets. Lightning was designed to scale Bitcoin, and Klever Wallet is delivering on that vision — not through abstraction or compromise, but through tools that stay true to decentralization.
Lightning Network is no longer just for developers and early adopters. It’s now in your pocket — faster, cheaper, and completely under your control.
